Porta Sant’Agata
Of ancient construction, although it is not easy to say that it is the original one of the Norman period. No document from Palermo’s topography appears to have been redone or transformed, and even after the long Vespro War where the nearby walls were destroyed and then restored, it appears that the door has not undergone any transformation. It is therefore one of the oldest testimonies of the medieval wall, containing a fresco depicting the Madonna del Carmine, painted in space between the two arches, and the figures of two angels in the lunettes.
It is located at the entrance of the famous Ballarò popular market.
